My Road to Design

I'm a UX Designer with a background in psychology, anthropology, and education. With an extensive background in qualitative and ethnographic research, I naturally lean toward incorporating the user perspective into my design process. Learn more about my unique road to UX design:

  • Amherst College

    2011-2015

Drawn to understanding human behavior within a sociocultural lens, I decided to study psychology and anthropology at Amherst. I supplemented my education by also studying Japanese; it helped me explore how language influences the human perspective.

  • Nanzan University

    January to June 2014

Lived and studied in Japan, taking classes that focused on ethnographic research and cross-cultural studies.

  • UCLA

    June to August 2014

Conducted psychology research with graduate students at the Psychology of Social Justice Lab. Research focused on domestic partner violence and policing equity.

  • Ethnographic Research

    September 2014 to June 2015

With a better understanding of ethnographic and quantitative research practices, I conducted my own research inquiry into gender expression and intersectional identities.

  • UPenn at Loomis Chaffee

    June 2015 to June 2017

Drawn to educational anthropology and cognitive psychology, I completed my 2-year graduate research at an elite boarding school. My research focused on how the incorporation of intertextual shifts as a pedagogical tool could help build student engagement and text-to-self connections.

  • Consulting

    July 2017 to December 2018

Drawn to problem-solving, I consulted students through the college application process and helped redesign a school's master schedule for the betterment of the overall student and faculty experience.

  • Discovering Design

    January 2018 to January 2019

Having established a passion for the application of research to solving real-world problems, I became drawn to user experience design and exploring how ethnographic and psychology research could be used in the digital space. I completed a 1-yr intensive UX design program with Bloc, focusing on UX strategy, ideation, and prototyiping.

  • Freelance Designer

    October 2019 to Present

From enterprise software to consumer-facing products, I've challenged my creative thinking by working on diverse products.
